Well all the stuf I would say has been said so there would be no point to repeat it. So I'll just give my two cents. WOW great movie I love the Bluescreening the Jedi Fighter fighting a Republic ship is great (Yes it's a Republic ship not a star destroyer) Sorry I am a Hardcore fan so I have one complaint the "long Neck guy" in the background is named Yarael Poof (yes I know it's a funny name) and he actually died prior to Ep.2 so he wouldn't be in Ep. 3 (sorry Jay had to find some mistsake :P

Words can't possibly begin to describe how great this movie is.
It's been almost a year since we first saw the Gauntlet. I knew that sooner or later Jay was going to release his next movie and when he did, it was gonna be a mind blower. I saw it twice so far, both times on the big screen and I'm still reeling from it. Until I read what Jay wrote I was convinced that some parts of it were cgi. They just looked too good to be bluescreened. Anyways, great work (as usual) and congrats! Dougwww.shootinbricks.com

After having my new harddrive and OS for almost a whole year, finally a reason I had to download Quicktime. After you told me you were working on a new film, I couldn't wait til it came out. You've done it again. Good thing I don't have anything to release right now. Keep up the good work.

Finally got it to work with new version of Quicktime...
Awesome! Most of the things I have to say have already been said-I'll try to go through them quickly- -Bluescreening: amazing, really made this film what it was (a question: you bluescreened in the floor of the Jedi Council chamber, no?) -Lightsabers: good, cool carbon pit -Music: fitted almost perfectly-loved use of the AotC music in the Star Destroyer shot -Voices: Yoda's and Palpatine's were excellent, but some of the others didn't quite have the zing of the ones in Last Strike -Movement: I agree that there should have been a bit more in some scenes -Minifigs:Padme did look a little weird with the clay, Ki-Adi-Mundi's head was done well, Palpatine's hair good also, blue Senate guy with horns cool, though it's hard to make clay fit in in a Lego world... -For some reason the shot with the guy talking to Mace Windu about the new weapon under construction didn't seem to "click;" maybe it was the quieter music This trailer is also extremely "true" to the Star Wars movies, not just in subject but in details like the pan around Palpatine's senate pod (it seems like in Episodes I and II every shot of the pod is a pan around it like this). Some of my favorite sequences: - The Star Destroyer and clone disembarkment sequence was great, especially with the music - Obi-Wan and Padme's retreat into the elevator/lift was just cool - The Jedi Starfighter flying past the Star Destroyer was amazing and Star-Warsy-I think it's the first truely realistic Lego space battle sequence we've seen Congrats on a second great film! Hope to see a "making-of" page! |

I'm really glad that everyone seems to like it, despite a few of the problems like spotty animation and choppy sound. I promise the next one will be perfect.
Thanks for taking the time to write, too. I find that that feedback makes all the difference and helps to keep up that creative momentum. The council floor was real. I did a sketch of the floor as it appears in The Phantom Menace, recreated it in Freehand and printed it on a glossy cardstock at a local copy shop. It was one of the few expenses I incurred but it was worth it: the floor looks great and was a lot easier than bluescreening it (I can't imagine... with reflections and stuff? Whoa!). -j |

Good work on the drawing-floor looks just like the real thing...
Oops-just watched it again and realized that Mace Windu's head is indeed brown, funny that I thought it was black-I guess it's just because it's a dark shade of brown, and in some scenes the lighting's darker. |

Jay,
I have some questions for you. I was going to email these to you but I thought others would also like to know. I hear you are working on a "behind the scenes" writeup, but there are a few things I'd really like to know. 1. Lighting: What is your studio setup like? How many lights do you have? How big is your workspace? Do you have colored filters, or was that added in post prod? I'm assuming they are filters or colored bulbs, as the lighting complexity would be too much. 2. Compositing: The smoke effects during the lightsaber fight seemed to be some form of compositing fx, like a pattern of animation repeating in the swirls. How did you do this? Was it an animation in a loop? Was it bluescreened? How did you add something with as much precise detail as that as a layer? It is a moving .gif with the pink transparentcy set on? Did you animate it by hand, or did you find it somewhere? 3. Sense of space: There is a shot of a jedi being killed and tossed over a cityscape "cliff". I assume the foreground is built, the background is a moving matte (a layer or 30 of chromakey). Is this right, or did you use some other technique? Did you film the foreground action on a greenscreen, or matte it in manually? Those are a few questions. Love this movie. Jason |

Whoa. A lot of questions i asked myself too! Can't wait to read the answers.
By the way: GREAT MOVIE! I always watch once when I start my computer and once when I shut down This brickfilm had been the reason why I reshoot 80% of all my takes I've done already. They looked so dirty in comparison |

The problem with Jay Silver is, that he makes the rest of the Lego filming people, look like dirty rats. Why look their films when you can watch a Silver Production?
No, just a joke. You're incredible, man. You have to have unbelievable patience. Though I like TheGauntlet better, this one's so full of extremely good effects and ideas and story and and and... Only thing I have to complain: The voices were a little bit... errmm... calm. Too calm. If you understand me Your name... "zirkusaffe"... that's German. I am the German who once asked you for your interview... Why do you have that nickname? Would be interesting. Rock on, Jay, you're the best. What do you think of my movie (Shuttling)? - Holger |

Sorry to say your film is not at this web site or has be taken off, please can you tell me is it going to be posted somewhere else?
Also is there any chance of reducing it's size as mine is very slow at downloading stuff unless it's in real player (RM) format, thanks Marty |

Re: Curses! | ||

I thought Brickshelf was behind on reviewing material. I'm going to try a few avenues locally first but I'll see what I can do on Brickshelf if that all falls through.
I guess that's good though - a lot of people are seeing it. -j |

Re: Curses! | ||

Brickshelf does not have to review the material for it to be available...
The folder itself is unreachable by general visitors (not public is the term), but if you rightclick on a file uploaded on brickshelf and save the direct link to the file it is downloadable from a direct link on a web page. Easy! hali |
