Just finished watching it, totally excellent! I especially liked the sets. Also, the plot was gripping, the voice acting, along with the rest of the audio.
Great action too, and you have to feel sorry for the Imperials at the end! Who would look forward to a visit from Darth Vadar? Planet 3001 Films ----------------------------------- Gamecube better than Xbox, PS2, but not as good as sex! |

many thanks! | ||

Hi everyone,
Thank you for your high praise, it is greatly appreciated! It wouldn't have been half as good without the voice actor volunteers who brought the characters to life: Peter Bell, Ross Burman, Robert Kirkwood, and Dan Bell. I've thrown some more material on the web site that explains some of the behind-the-scenes work. -Robert |

Great to see others adding their 'bonus stuff' to sites. Thanks it was great to have a look at. Sets especially.
Has anyone had a look at the bonus stuff I posted a few days ago? Cheers, Hali ------

next project? | ||
|
I'm taking a little break right now since this project consumed all my free time (I need to do some yard work and other chores I've neglected :-(
Although, I am starting to think about writing another script since that is something that isn't *too* time intensive. I've been kicking around two possible ideas: a comedy (very difficult) and an action-drama tale of redemption (my favorite). When I start working on it, I'll post progress on red5studios.dyndns.org |

Comedies are easy!
Whats even more easy is...um... comedies are really, really easy. |

Tan-fastic behind the scenes stuff! Especially the voice-bloopers bit, very funny. Reminds me of the Black and White out-takes they released. Nice to see someone caring about not just the film, but the extra content as well.

This movie is the bomb....could be from one of the Xwing-saga books. Highly entertaining fast paced and never boring.
Keep up the exellent work Ben Focus, like Grasshopper facing the sun.

Great movie...but I have a question. I don't know if you want to give out this info or not but what equipment/programs do you use? I'm really struggling to get a good set-up to make films. I have used Lego Studios in the past (great for beginners) but I need to find better equipment/programs to use. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your compliment. I used Adobe Premiere for my editing software and a 3Com Home Connect (discontinued) for my web cam. I like both very much!
Premiere is very pricey ($600 new), but you can find it for $100-$200 on E-bay. It is definitely worth the price. It takes a while to learn, but it can do everything I wanted to do. Your movie rocks!!!!! It is the best lego movie I have ever seen in the 4015 days (11 years) I have been alive. I have started making a Star Wars Saga and i already have the fisrt movie out. I am trying to get the movie on to my site with, "Web Publishing Wizard", but it doesn't seem to be working with AOL. i am working on episode II right now. The name of episode I is "Disloyal Jedi". The name for episode II is "Downfall of the Republic". I am making sites for all 6 of my movies. Check out my episode I site now at

AWESOME!!!!!!! Part 2?

PLEASE MAKE SECTOR 7 PART 2!!!!
I love the cute visual effects, the adventure, everything! great film! Just one thing, work on the animation, cause thats the only bug of the film, the animation needs to be more up paced. But otherwise, this is one of the best film ive seen on brickfilms. Good job! u have to make a part 2!!!!! by the way, i'm making a film currently abit similar to your sector 7 film. Its called star wars rise of the machines, it has the same concept of two pilots crashing on a unknown planet. they find out the imperials are hiding on that planet, building a giant base to create deadly killer robots called Killbots. The two pilots must stop the robots before the rebels are doomed. another great adventure, inspired by your secrotr 7 film! great film! Sector seven review. animation 4/10 action 9/10 fun 10/10 story 9.5/10 effects 8/10 script 9/10 great film! u have to make a part 2!!!! |

No Sector 7 Part II, but...
|
Thanks for the comments. I think your ratings are very fair
I agree the animation is poor, especially by today's standards. Buxton, Jay Silver, and *lots* of others (too many to name) have really raised the bar. Interestingly, it didn't look as amateurish back in Jan of 2002 when Sector 7 was released. I won't be making a sequel to "Sector 7" since it was meant to be a free standing story, but I have always planned to make a trilogy of parallel stories of the other pilots who left for missions the same day as Kenny and Iceman (you see them all at the beginning). I have written the script for the second movie and have a lot of "good" ideas for the third. The trick is finding time In the meantime, I'm currently working on a short (~5 min) film where I try and improve my animation skills. Your film sounds interesting, I look forward to seeing it. Here's my writing secret: I bought a very useful book a while back when I wrote a play for church, but the concepts in the book apply to any story (I constantly referred to it while writing Sector 7). It's got lots of good stuff in it like developing the characters back-stories and motivations and things to avoid like having characters tell each other things they should already know just to inform the audience. The book is: "How to Write a Play (Teach Yourself)" by David Carter www.amazon.com/exec/obido...s&n=507846 I'm sure books are equally good, but this is the only one that I've read. Good luck! |
